The project was to design, fabricate,
install, commission and test a high temperature thermal energy storage system
for research, development and collecting data for scale up.
The system consisted of:
a. Molten salt based thermocline energy
system with suitable distribution system using nano particles of 20 KW capacity
using thermosiphon effect.
b. Thermal energy storage system using
encapsulated phase change material as the storage medium (2-5 KW capacity).
All the SS vessels were suitable for high
temperature and pressure having suitable
inlets, outlets, sampling ports, safety valves and safety systems.
The project involved design and fabrication
of suitable heat exchangers with monitoring and control system suitable for
handling molten materials.
Equipment layout, pipe stress analysis, HAZOP
analysis, procurement of approved
suitable pumps, valves motors, fittings of specific brands.
