The turnkey plant supplied to IIT Kharagpur,
was to produce ethanol from agricultural cellulosic wastes. The plant consisted
of:
a. A chopper(3HP) to reduce the size,
b. A forced hot air drier to reduce the
moisture content.
c. Saccharification and fermentation tanks
(s.s) of 1100 liter capacity each with special valves to charge and discharge
of materials. Saccharification and fermentation tanks were jacketed for
sterilization and temperature control. The tanks were equipped with monitoring
and control of temperature ,pH, dissolved oxygen and foam.

Distillation Column-Raschig ring packed bed distillation column with
reboiler, condenser,reflux system and product collection.
d. Chilled water circulation plant for
temperature control.
The equipment were integrated and installed
in required order and pipe and electric lines with controls were laid.
